Short and simple meditation and mindfulness talks for emotional wellness and awareness.
Firefly meditations are read, not listen to - no rush, no audio. You control the pace of your practice.
Are you in a season of breaking?
The Talk: Did you know that everything in nature breaks in the same way? There is a valuable lesson in this, especially when we are in a season of breaking.
The Meditation: Using the image of breaks and crinkles to find peace within a season of breaking.
Making Yourself Small - for a big reason!
Mindfulness Talk: I know it’s a paradox, but a great strategy for breaking out of an overwhelming moment is to make yourself small!
Meditation: Have this meditation ready to go for when you are suddenly overwhelmed.
Feeling Mediocre? It may be time for a spit-wash!
Mindfulness Talk: When we go through times of feeling down or mediocre, its not the real you that you are noticing. You are noticing the dust that has settled from recent decisions or habits or patterns. But I promise, the real you is there - under the dust - and you might just be ready for a spit-wash!
Meditation: A gentle way to acknowledge that which has caused some recent “dust” in your life, and an empowering way to recover your real self from under the dust.
Self-worth vs. Self-esteem
Mindfulness Talk: Self-esteem rises and falls with the tides, but self-worth is very different. Self-worth is the idea that when you mess up at life, your wholeness has not been subtracted.
Meditation: Imagining yourself as a whole, shimmery being that cannot be subtracted from. Someone worthy of riding the tides of life.
Creating Emotional Flow
Mindfulness Talk: Let’s talk about different cultural understandings of emotional flow.
Meditation: A way of bringing emotional flow into our modern life.
For when we want to “let go” but can’t.
Mindfulness Talk: Sometimes letting go isn’t an option. Aparigraha is a practice of “ungripping” or “unattaching”.
Meditation: If you are feeling something big - like a major life moment, a longstanding hurt, a lingering fear - try out this meditation. Its goal is not to let it go, but to simply loosen its grip.
Adulting Sucks!
Mindfulness Talk: Adulting sucks. And you don’t need to be in the middle of a big suffering to still feel like you are suffering. This talk reframes “suffering” and might even provide a bit of peace.
Meditation: This meditation allows you to look back at a moment that caused you adulting information overload. Not for the purpose of solving it.
When our “doing” is below par, it’s time to look to the “being”.
Mindfulness Talk: Ahamkara is the process of separating our “doing” from our “being”. We are not a product of our actions and choices. Our true “being” is a product of the universal connection.
Meditation: A meditation where we actively resist that which urges us to do better and be better. Instead, we fight back with our real, whole “being”.
