How to have all the energy you wish for!
Mindfulness Talk:
Exhausted, frustrating, unproductive Friday afternoons are the worst. And of course, that’s exactly when Miss Perfect walks past, looking all pep-in-her-step. Can’t help but wonder why I can’t look like that/act like that/be like that. If had more energy, I could? Right?
Yoga philosophy says, be careful what you wish for.
According to brahmacharya, energy isn’t meant to be gathered and then used as a commodity. Energy is not meant to be summoned up and put forth to help us achieve. Energy is not meant to be mustered and then used to do better. According to brahmacharya, energy is meant to nourish us. It's meant to help us feel guided and provided for. It shines us up so we are vibrant and buzzing. Not in a busy way, but in an inner light kind of way.
It’s so tempting to wish for the energy to do life better. But that’s a trick. What we really desire is to BE better. And we don’t become a better human by pushing and supersizing. We are most fully ourselves when our energy is at a level that is just right to serve us. It’s a level of energy that is sustainable. It provides us with just the amount of energy we need to bobble through the ups and downs of real life. We are shined up just enough to give love and accept love. We have the exact amount necessary to light us up.
Wish for energy to plump you up with just the amount of nourishment you need. Once nourished, don’t be surprised when things start coming your way.
Until next time,
Laura

Mindfulness Meditation: Imagine a small glowing ball, like a small sun, inside your upper belly. Notice it’s glow. It’s not overly bright. Just a nice, consistent glow. You might notice a thought or feeling or image arise. Just notice it, and then let it fade away into the glow.
Now imagine that glowing ball getting bigger, now filling your upper belly and chest. Notice how it didn’t get brighter as it grew. Just a nice, consistent glow. Stay here and just notice. If a thought or feeling or image arises, notice it and then let it fade into the glow.
Now imagine that glowing ball bigger and filling your belly, chest and now spreading to your sit bones and all the way to your feet. Not brightening. Just a nice, consistent glow. Stay here and just notice. If a thought or feeling or image arises, notice it and then let it fade into the glow.
Now imagine that glowing ball bigger and filling your low body, sit bones, belly, chest and now spreading all the way to your head. Not brightening. Not spilling over. Not lighting up the whole room. Just a nice, soft consistent glow just for you and you alone. Stay here and just notice. If a thought or feeling or image arises, notice it and then let it fade into the glow. Continue to feel that nice, soft consistent glow for as long as you wish.
Closing Routine: When you are ready, rub your fingers and take three cleansing breaths. Or use another closing routine that works for you.
